Cardiology Consultation
Our cardiologists perform detailed and comprehensive assessment of your cardiac symptoms. They have specialised training and interest in general cardiology, heart failure, cardiac imaging as well as coronary and valvular intervention.

Electrocardiogram
An electrocardiogram (ECG) is a quick and non-invasive test examining the electrical activity of the heart. You will be attached to the machine via electrodes placed on the chest, arms and legs. An ECG can be used to diagnose cardiac conditions, including brady (slow) or tachy (fast) arrhythmias and heart attack.

Echocardiogram
A transthoracic echocardiogram is a non-invasive ultrasound of the heart. It can assess the heart’s size, structure, pumping and valvular function. You will be asked to lie on your left side for the test. The sonographer will then place a transducer probe on your chest with gel applied to it. There are no special preparations for the test.

Exercise Stress Test
An EST is a non-invasive test used to examine the heart’s function and response to exercise. You will be asked to exercise on the treadmill whilst being monitored with electrodes attached. Your cardiologist will be present during this test. The information from the stress test is used to assess for serious coronary artery blockages or exercise-induced rhythm abnormalities. Please wear comfortable clothing to exercise in and bring a towel/water.

Exercise Stress Echocardiogram
An exercise stress echocardiogram consists of three parts. The first part is a resting cardiac ultrasound. The second part involves exercise on a treadmill with ECG monitoring. The final part is a repeat cardiac ultrasound. Your cardiologist will be present during this test and will compare the two ultrasounds and the ECG to determine if any part of the heart does not contract properly with exercise. This may suggest serious coronary artery blockages or heart muscle damage. Please wear comfortable clothing to exercise in and bring a towel/water.

Ambulatory ECG Monitoring
A ambulatory ECG monitor is a small electrical device that can continuously monitor your heart rate and rhythm for 24-48hours. It is worn around your neck or waist with electrical electrodes attached to your chest. Your cardiologist may request a Holter monitor to help diagnose rhythm abnormalities which may only occur intermittently.

In Hospital Services
Our cardiologists perform in-hospital procedures in both public and private hospitals including: Coronary angiogram +/- stenting Transoesophageal echocardiogram Direct current electrical cardioversion Structural heart intervention
